Sight word worksheets for this week's words

Kindergarten and first grade classes send home a few sight words at a time. Snap the list or the worksheet and get practice with exactly those words, in the same read, trace and write style.

From one kindergarten sheet: trace-and-write practice with the same six words, then a mixed sheet.

How it works

  1. Snap or pasteTake a photo of the worksheet, homework or list, upload a PDF, or paste the teacher's email.
  2. Check what it readSee the subject, grade and skill it found. Answer one or two quick questions, pick how many sheets.
  3. PrintDownload a PDF on US Letter or A4, with your child's name on top and an answer key at the end.

Read, trace, write, then mix it up

Early in the year, tracing each word and writing it once is the right amount. When the words start to stick, switch to "same skill, mixed formats" for missing letters, unscrambling and a short listen-and-write.

The sheets use Andika, a typeface designed for beginning readers, so letters like a and g look the way your child writes them.

Works with Dolch and Fry lists

Many schools teach from the Dolch list (220 common words in levels from pre-primer to third grade, plus 95 nouns) or the Fry list (1,000 words in sets of 100). You do not need to look anything up: snap the page your school sent and the sheets use those words.

Five minutes a day

Sight words stick through short, frequent practice. One sheet a day, read aloud together before writing, works better than a long session on the weekend.

Questions parents ask

Do you have printable Dolch or Fry lists?

No. The app makes practice from the words your child is learning, so snap or paste the list your school uses.

Can I put my child's name on the sheets?

Yes. Type it on the check screen. It is printed on every sheet and never leaves your browser.

My child is just starting. Can it be easier?

Choose "Easier" on the check screen, or snap only the first few words. Tracing sheets are the gentlest start.

Can I mix sight words with the spelling list?

Yes. Add up to three pages at once, for example the sight word page and the spelling list, or paste both lists together.
